You can enjoy a Private Chef at this NYC Penthouse Restaurant

My best friend, Stacia, is a lot like me in so many ways, but especially when it comes to eating at unique places. So for her birthday, I had to give her a dining experience that I knew she would appreciate (probably because she’s the one that found this place 😂). What makes the Gaonnuri experience so unique? You have a Private Chef cook for you on your very own personal grill installed in your table! Happy Birthday Stacia!!!!

Ok, so let me get you through the details….

The Venue

Hospitality: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Perfect 10! From the moment you walk through the door, there is someone to greet you. The first hostess checked our proof of vaccination (yes, you must be vaccinated to eat here), then led us to the elevator where another attendant took us to our designated floor (39th floor penthouse!). At our table, our Waiter was prompt and very attentive. The food arrived quickly and all of our requests were met without hesitation.

Environment:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Anything with a good view gets 5 stars from me! I Love, love, LOVE being able to look out at a beautiful scene while enjoying a nice meal. The huge windows, candlelit tables and calm demeanor gives the venue a grown and sexy feel, perfect for a nice night on the town.

Family friendly: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Family friendly, yes. But only in the sense that children are allowed – I don’t exactly think that this is the ideal place for them, though. We actually had Stacia’s 10 year old daughter with us to help her celebrate, and as she’s mature enough to dine out, she wasn’t at all excited about the venue like we were (I guess we’re old now 😂). She still had a good enough time, but in my opinion, the feel of this particular restaurant doesn’t appeal too much to children at all.

The Food

Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We loved most of our meal, but certain options we weren’t too crazy about. Our menu choices included: Seafood pancakes (I loved these!), Mushroom Tangsoo, Lobster Kimchi Fried Rice, the Gaon Set* and a side order of Jumbo White Shrimp (didn’t particularly care for these. Being cooked on the grill made them dry and rubber-like). For drinks we had Moscato. I can’t remember the name of our desserts, as they are not on the menu, but one came complimentary for birthdays, and one was a Snickers Bar inspired confection. Both of which were very, very good.

*A quick note when ordering* If you opt to doing the BBQ meals (with the in table grills), be aware that the Gaon and Nuri Set menu items have to be ordered in pairs of 2. In other words, each set has to be bought twice. The menu doesn’t state this, however. You’ll see them advertised for $50 and $56, but they’re actually double the price. They come with a variety of tasty side dishes.

Presentation: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Because we chose to have our food cooked right at our your table, we weren’t presented with fancy plated entrees. However, I still appreciated the aesthetics surrounding our meal.

Price: $$$

Not as expensive as I thought it would be, but could easily be considered pricey depending on what your idea of expensive is. The average cost of an entree is around $40. You can check out their menu items here.

The Takeaway….

Yes, I enjoyed myself, yes I would go back (because I saw something someone else ordered and I want to try it 😆) and yes I recommend it!

Be prepared to pay for a parking garage. Like everywhere else in NYC, finding on street parking just doesn’t happen too often.

Although we didn’t cook our own food here, there are quite a few restaurants that offer either the same experience of having someone cook it for you, or cooking your dishes yourself. Look around your state to which restaurants are closest to you!
