Looking for some authentic Dominican fare? Republica Restaurent and Rooftop in NYC is where you need to be!
Me and my Partner in crime, Stacia stumbled across this place and decided we’d give it a try. Since we’d be in NYC, we wanted to be sure we were able to hit a new restaurant before the day was over.
The Venue
Hospitality: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I could have easily given this place a 5 star rating, but I didn’t appreciate how one of the Hostesses sat the couple in line behind us first (but that’s a story for another day). On the upside, the Manager, Jose, along with our Waitress and a number of other staff were accommodating and pleasant.
Environment: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Here, you’ll enjoy two level dining / bar options with all the frills. The bottom level houses the bar with large seating areas, vibrant lights and neon signs; it gives a club feel. The rooftop level is bright and fun. It’s adorned with floral walls and ceilings, colorful furniture and flat screen tv’s; definitely worth a post on your Instagram account.
The venue sits on the corner of in a residential neighborhood in NYC. We happened to luck up and found on street parking around the corner. But in the event that you aren’t able to, there’s a small parking garage next door. I’m not sure of the fee.
Family friendly: ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Yes, the venue is family friendly (someone had their infant with them during our visit). In my opinion though, if you do decide to bring your children along, make it during the day.
*Hookah is served all day. You may want to keep this is mind if coming with children. Some parents prefer the youngins not to be around smoke*.
Taste:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The food was AMAZING! 20/10 for sure! I rarely don’t have a dish that I don’t find anything wrong with. But these here did not disappoint. We had the Pollo al Cabron and Papas Y Chorizo dishes 🤌🏽.
Presentation:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The food presentation was what was expected, but the drinks were something else! As you could probably imagine, it was the drinks that drew us in, in the first place. I mean just look at them!
Honestly, I knew exactly what I wanted from looking at their Instagram page. So I’m not too sure if the names of the drinks are correct as I labeled them (I looked at the menu and used my best judgement). But I literally asked for the Hot air balloon, the Heart, the Perfume and the Genie Lamp 😂. They got the point 🤷🏽♀️. I would have also liked to give the Mimosa Pops a try. Maybe during my next visit.
Now, my option on the taste is completely bias, as I prefer sweet cocktails, so anything stronger than a Piña Colada is usually too much for me. The Perfume Cocktail was more my speed, but the other had too much of a punch for my liking. I still drink them though 😂.
Price:💰💰
We came for Bruch, which wasn’t our initial idea (we didn’t properly research, and assumed that dinner would be served at 2pm) but since we had other plans for our evening, we decided to stay and give it a try. Their Brunch options include prefix menus for $45 per person. This includes 2hr seating in the rooftop area, one breakfast item, one lunch item and a pitcher of Mimosa (we only purchased the deal for one person, since bruch wasn’t really want we wanted). Taxes are also included in this price.
In addition to this, the cocktails we ordered were all around $17. And well worth it. So, with one Brunch package and 4 cocktails, our grand total was $170. Not too bad if you ask me.
