Spooky Season has arrived! And I’ve found quite a few activities for my family to enjoy 👻🎃. First up, was the Haunted Car wash at Streamline Carwash, in Rockaway. I knew I had to try this out for two reasons: I LOVE all things horror, and my car was filthy 😂. It was a win-win for me.
PRICE:
The charge is $40 per car (43.14 w/ fee). You can purchase your tickets here, open Fridays and Saturdays only 7p – 10p. THE LAST DAYS ARE 10/25 & 10/26!
If you were lucky enough to enjoy this experience before the price was changed from $25, lucky you! The venue became so popular that it crowded the street with wait times of over an hour! The only way they were able to continue without being shut down was to sell tickets.
WAIT TIME:
We got in line at exactly 8:08, and was done at 8:25. So from start to finish we were done in less than 20 mins.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
⚠️ Expect some jump-scares from beginning to end. Depending on your tolerance level, this may be too scary, or not scary at all. In my opinion, it’s a lot scarier for younger children than it is for adults and older kids.
You’ll be ‘haunted’ while waiting in line, as well as driving through the the actual carwash. Be prepared to encounter Michael Myers (my favorite killer 🔪), Scream, Pennywise and much more!
* The actors won’t touch you, but they will open your doors if they’re left unlocked. You’re asked not to touch them either. *
And yes, your car actually gets washed (outside only).
SCARE-O-METER: 8/10
A good enough scare and lots of fun. A plus for the creativity . I’ve never heard of a haunted Car wash before this. Have you? But a good ole fashioned walk-through haunted house will always be the most thrilling for me.
