A Miami Dining Experience in NJ

Another New Jersey Restaurant conquered. Made In Miami Tapas Bar and Restaurant is a Latin – Caribbean fusion restaurant located in Clifton NJ. You know when I hear of a new restaurant, I run to it! But I don’t know if this one was all that I thought it’d be. I’m not even quite sure what I expected though 🤔. But anyway, here it is…

The Venue

Hospitality: ⭐️⭐️

Hospitality for us, was a NO! We waited about 40mins for our drinks and over a hour for our food 🥴. We also weren’t checked up on to see if we needed anything, or if our food oknot even once. Now, I don’t want to generalize the entire waitstaff, because I did see that other tables were attended to promptly. Our Waitress, however, did a horrible job. I forgot her name.

Environment: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The cutest seating area!

With the stylish aesthetics and a lively crowd, you do get that Miami feel. The Live DJ isn’t a bad touch either. It’s not the biggest restaurant though, perhaps not the right size to bring more than 5 or 6 people along, in my opinion.

Family Friendly: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Children allowed, but I think I remember seeing not after 10pm (you might want to double check that). Teens would definitely enjoy a meal here.

The Food

Jamaican Bao Buns (Shrimp)

Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The appetizers saved the night, because the main course we chose wasn’t that great to me. For starters, we had the Cotton Candy Coco Shrimp, Jamaican Bao Buns (Shrimp) and the Ceviche Avocado (my favorite!). For our main course we chose the Piña Mariscada and for drinks we got the Miami Nights (but the mock tail version).

Everything was great except for the Piña Mariscada. To me, the rice was dry and not seasoned. Even the shrimp and and crab legs had absolutely no taste. I wouldn’t recommend this dish. I wish I would have gone with the Mojito Lamb Chops instead.

As of right now, there is no desert served here 😞. I would have loved to see how creative they could have gotten with that.

Presentation: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Piña Mariscada

The presentation was good, not great. I’m starting to feel like comparable venues all serve their food the same way. On the same plates, same banana leafs, etc. etc… I like to be WOW’d! I would have loved to see the Cotton Candy shrimp appetizer served on a cone in typical cotton candy fashion, with the shrimp sticking out if it. Or maybe even a dish with smoke coming from it. You know, just something a little more than the average plate with sauce sprinkled on it. Barton G. Still has my heart as far as presentation goes.

Price: $$$

Compared to similar restaurants their menu items are about the same. Appetizers range from $12 – $26. While the main dishes can cost you anywhere between $18 – $45.

• 18% Gratuity is automatically added to your bill.

On street parking , which we found without a problem.

Yes, there’s hookah 💨

The Takeaway

A cool upbeat spot for a night out. Good food, good drinks and hookah – that’s what most of us want right? 😂 I’d visit again…

Would you give Made In Miami a try?
