Seacrets Jamaica, Ocean City Maryland: My Full Review and Experience

I’ve been meaning to visit Seacrets for at least two years now. So, in the midst of having a weekend away from the kids, my best friend and I decided to take the trip.

Was it worth the wait? Here are my thoughts..

Hospitality:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nothing bad to say here! When it comes to hospitality, they are 100% on point! From the second you approach the front door, up until the time you leave, every member of their staff that I’ve encountered was cheerful, helpful and professional.

The Food

Taste: ⭐️⭐️

Our dishes included: Jamaican Pizza (just plain pizza. Nothing Jamaican about it), Seacrets Steak Chesapeake, Seafood Tortillas, Jamaican Nachos with shrimp added, and onion rings (which were amazing by the way. ESPECIALLY THE SAUCE!). In terms of taste, not bad at all. But in terms of Jamaican Cuisine and that Island taste I was looking for, I’ve had more authentic dishes elsewhere.

Jamaican Pizza & Seacrets Steak Chesapeake

A true Jamaican, or anyone who favors Jamaican cuisine would probably be upset with their options. The menu literally consists of mostly seafood (crab / shrimp) and chicken dishes with some jerk seasoning thrown on it. Where was the Roti, the curry dishes, the oxtails, the cabbage, the various fish, the stew peas, the callaloo, the porridge, the yams and green bananas?? Where was Jamaica?!

Jamaican Nachos & Seafood Tortillas

So 2 stars for taste, not because the food is nasty (because it’s not!) but because with a name like Seacrets Jamaica, I expected something a lot more authentic. You won’t taste Jamaica here…

Presentation:⭐️⭐️

Presentation fell short as well, in my opinion. In rating restaurants, one of the most important things for me is a pretty dish. I love the feeling of being left speechless when my food or drink arrive to my table; something really Instagram worthy. I wanted to eat and drink out of coconuts and pineapples. Maybe even have something served on a big banana leaf… was I expecting too much? Here, your food is served on paper plates and your drinks, in plastic cups with their brand printed on them. Again, not horrible, but immensely average.

Venue: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Super cool hangout spot! When I posted my videos and pictures on my social media accounts, I had so many inboxes inquiring about the location! One person thought I was in Tulum, while another assumed that I was actually in Jamaica! It’s, without a doubt, a cool place for a night out with friends , or even a date night.

I think what originally sold me on Seacrets was the in-water seating area. Because, how dope is that?! We actually requested to be seated there as soon as our hostess greeted us, but unfortunately you can only drink in that area; no food allowed. Another note about the in-water seating, as fun as it looks, it kiiiiiiiinda grossed us out. Lets face it, some people just aren’t clean. So you can bet that there’s so much trash floating around in there. I felt so many unknown objects brushing past my legs 🥴. You’ll also notice a lot of seaweed and bird crap….. So, just be warned.

Also, being that Seacrets sits right in the heart of Ocean City, there is so much more to do! There’s a whole boardwalk full of restaurants, hotels, ice cream parlors, and other activities including jet-skiing and parasailing. So in addition to grabbing a bite to eat here, you can very easily find other fun things to get into.

Price: $$$

I think I spent $80 in total, drinks included (but not including any tips). The most expensive dish is going to cost you $43, and the drinks average at about $9. You can check out their menu for information.

Family friendly: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I saw quite a few families coming in to enjoy themselves, so it’s obvious they accommodate children. But because I had the pleasure of not having my own that day (😬), I’m not too sure if they’re any limitations to their visit (minimum age requirement, certain times they are allowed, specific seating areas, etc…). If you are thinking of having the kiddos tag along, I would contact the venue to clear any questions first.

All in all, I had a fine time and I’d recommend anyone try them out. As long as you’re not looking for top-of-the-line, authentic Jamaican dishes, I’m sure you’d enjoy everything else about this place…

Plan on going? Tell them I sent ya 😉

HAVE FUN!!!!
